About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst for the Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) applies advanced knowledge of accounting systems & procedures to research & analyze complex financial data, resolve discrepancies, & administer the fiscal aspects of grants while providing guidance & training as a lead worker. This role involves researching & analyzing complex information using critical thinking to resolve errors &/or modify data by administering the fiscal aspect of one or more statewide criminal justice grants (i.e., Department of Justice grants, State of Ohio General Revenue Fund grants, etc.). The analyst will monitor grant compliance & provide technical assistance to state & local agencies & the Executive Director regarding grant-related issues. Additionally, the role includes conducting on-site fiscal monitoring to ensure compliance with applicable federal & state statutes, regulations, grant requirements, including uniform administrative requirements & cost principles for federal & state grants. The analyst will also assess internal controls developed & implemented by the sub-grantee to demonstrate compliance with applicable requirements, including organizational operations, policies, procedures, financial reports, & recordkeeping.

Requirements

  • 42 mos. exp. or 42 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; AND 18 mos. exp. or 18 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software
  • Completion of graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; AND 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software
  • 12 mos. exp. as Financial Analyst, 66562
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment
  • Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience
