About The Position

A2Z Sync is a Series A SaaS company building an operating system for U.S. automotive retail. The Senior Financial Analyst will own the models and monthly analysis supporting the company’s forecast, cost of revenue, margins, and variance reporting. This hands-on role works across the P&L, partnering directly with the Director of Finance and closely with accounting and revenue operations. The role is based in the Denver office and requires working on-site three days per week. The analyst will build and maintain driver-based forecast models, update forecasts with actuals, assess scenarios, analyze integration and hosting costs, monitor operating expenses, and maintain margin and unit economics analyses. The role also delivers monthly budget-versus-actual reporting, variance commentary, dashboards, KPI reporting, and data validation. A key part of the position is reducing repetitive monthly work through automation, scripts, improved models, and AI tools, while bringing forward useful business insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting experience, including direct ownership of a forecast or model.
  • Experience in a SaaS, subscription, or recurring-revenue business and working command of ARR/MRR, NRR, churn, gross margin, and cost of revenue.
  • Experience building department-level budget-versus-actuals reporting and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including driver-based modeling, scenario analysis, and large data manipulation using pivot tables and XLOOKUP or INDEX-MATCH.
  • Ability to build clean, versioned, auditable models that another person can use.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to explain a variance concisely to a non-finance audience.
  • Experience using automation in finance workflows and curiosity about applying AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or similar technologies to analysis and process improvement.
  • Self-starter who can identify problems, take initiative, and develop a framework for undefined questions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work on-site in Denver three days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience automating a recurring report, model, or reporting process.
  • Prior experience at a high-growth startup, technology company, or SaaS business.

  • Experience with Rillet, Ramp, HubSpot, BambooHR, Carta, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Model headcount and contractor timing, vacancy impacts, and fully loaded costs.
  • Partner with revenue operations on go-live timing and churn inputs, and reconcile revenue forecasts to actuals each month.
  • Analyze third-party integration, data, and vendor costs; monitor variance by vendor and flag cost drift.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure spending using in-month early reads.
  • Track software, vendor, and contractor operating expenses against budget and provide department-level variance commentary.
  • Maintain gross margin by revenue stream, unit economics, and cost-to-serve models.
  • Deliver company- and department-level budget-versus-actuals reporting each close, reserving time for review before distribution.
  • Draft monthly variance narratives explaining what moved, why, and the implications for the rest of the year.
  • Maintain and extend department dashboards so they remain self-serve and current.
  • Partner with accounting on department-level actuals and classification, ensuring figures tie across the general ledger, platform, and reports.
  • Run validation and data-quality checks across revenue, cost of revenue, and operating expenses before finance reporting is distributed.
  • Identify and automate repetitive work in the monthly finance cycle using AI tools, scripts, or improved models.
  • Maintain company metrics including ARR/MRR, NRR, churn, gross margin, and cost per dealer, with clear definitions and calculations.
  • Produce a monthly KPI package with trends and a concise explanation of what changed for the Director of Finance and leadership.
  • Identify and communicate actionable insights that may affect business decisions before they appear in the P&L.
