About The Position

Reporting into the Senior Director of Finance & Planning, the Senior Financial Analyst will aid and support to the Senior Director of Finance & Planning, and the CFO primarily with fiscal management of ECS’s multiple public (government) and private (foundation and corporate) grants and contracts. Working closely with the Senior Director of Finance & Planning, this role will handle all aspects related to budgeting, invoicing and reporting compliance for the agency’s grants and contracts. The Senior Financial Analyst will also be responsible for forecasting ECS’ financial results and for performing other ad-hoc financial analysis and forecasts as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred, in Finance or Accounting.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting or financial management and analysis experience.
  • Previous experience in a non-profit organization is desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, FASB 116 & 117 and experience with government contracts preferred including OMB A-122 and A-133 compliance.
  • Possess a friendly attitude with a customer service mentality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and can effectively collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit monthly contract invoices to various public funding agencies.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to support contract requirements and annual audits.
  • Analyze budget variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review general ledger, identify and reconcile any discrepancies and prepare appropriate adjustment of journal entries.
  • Monitor, forecast and report progress on contract and grant spending; lead meeting with Directors or Program Managers to review progress and financial results, and prepare contract budget revisions as needed.
  • Provide higher level of financial analysis, including scenario modeling and trend analysis, for Senior Director of Finance and Planning.
  • Support special projects, such as program launches, budget model improvements, or cost allocation reviews.
  • Support Development team and Directors with preparation of budgets for fundraising proposals and financial reports for foundation and corporate grants.
  • Review and log Personnel Activity Reports (PARs) for federally funded government contracts.
  • Update ECS organizational chart FTE salary allocation in partnership with Human Resources and against grant payroll budget.
  • Prepare audit confirmation letters and year-end schedules of federal awards, including the the supporting documentation related to it.
  • Support preparation of ECS annual financial forecast at least quarterly and present findings.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior analysts, or new Finance staff, ensuring accuracy and consistency in reporting.
