About The Position

Join BC Ferries in a high-impact FP&A role supporting capital investment decisions across a complex, asset-intensive organization. As Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A (Capital), you will help shape BC Ferries’ 12-year capital plan, evaluate investment opportunities, and provide decision support to project teams and senior leaders. This role is ideal for a seasoned finance professional who pairs strong technical capability with a collaborative, business-partnering approach and a practical, get-it-done mindset. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (Capital), you will play a key role in capital planning, investment analysis, and financial decision support across the organization. You will partner with project teams and leaders to strengthen business cases, challenge assumptions, assess affordability, and provide clear analysis on budgets, forecasts, risks, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • 4+ years in a relevant finance role. Practical experience in a FP&A role with capital investment decision making is an asset
  • Experience working with ERP systems and / or FP&A tools (e.g., Oracle, Adaptive, Cognos, Power BI, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of capital investment evaluation, including lifecycle costing
  • Strong knowledge of forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, ideally with a capital-intensive environment
  • Working knowledge of project accounting principles and financial controls
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, with proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to analyze complex financial and non‑financial information and synthesize it into clear, decision‑ready insights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, articulating ideas clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to show leadership and influence business decisions as a trusted advisor
  • Confidence operating with a high degree of autonomy while aligning work to broader team objectives
  • Detail‑oriented, intellectually curious, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation or related advanced degree is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development and ongoing maintenance of the multi‑year capital plan
  • Partnering with project teams in development of business cases, funding requests, and amendments by providing financial challenge and advice
  • Preparing financial analysis for project business cases and other investment decisions, including lifecycle costing, cash flow forecasting, and return metrics such as NPV, IRR
  • Providing financial oversight of capital program budgets and forecasts, identify variances and emerging risks
  • Delivering financial reporting and analysis at the project and program levels, translating data into actionable insights
  • Acting as a trusted finance partner to project management offices and other business functions
