About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Controller, the SFA, Financial Reporting plays a key role in the consolidation and external reporting processes. This position supports the monthly consolidation of financial results, prepares quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across financial reporting processes. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance and cross-functional teams across global offices, contributing to the delivery of high-quality financial reporting and providing insights that support strategic decision-making across Granite’s global portfolio.

Requirements

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting or public accounting, including experience as a SFA or Senior Accountant at a large public accounting firm or publicly traded organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and departments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement including an openness to the adoption of Artificial Intelligence as a tool to improve operating efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a multi‐currency environment or the real estate industry is an asset.
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager 7s and/or Workiva is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the monthly consolidation of financial results across all jurisdictions (Canada, U.S. and Europe), including the preparation of consolidation entries, intercompany eliminations and reconciliations.
  • Perform variance analysis on consolidated results and investigate significant fluctuations and underlying drivers.
  • Collaborate with finance and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”), including note disclosures.
  • Support the preparation of Audit Committee materials, public filings and related financial deliverables.
  • Liaise with external auditors and consultants for quarterly reviews, annual audits and internal controls testing.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including automation initiatives and best practices, to enhance financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Research technical accounting issues and support the implementation of new and amended IFRS.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements for legal entities to support tax filings.
  • Maintain and document effective internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Assist with and/or lead special projects and ad-hoc analysis.
