About The Position

The Senior Finance Manager provides financial leadership across the supported legal functions, overseeing planning, reporting, analysis, and decision support. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely consolidation of the Plan, LBEs, and LRP, while also preparing management analysis of actuals vs. benchmark results and supporting financial compliance. In addition, the position tracks and monitors Legal Fee Projections and Settlements, partners with finance and business leaders at all levels, and leads initiatives to improve, streamline, and automate financial processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Requires 7-10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Ability and desire to proactively identify and evaluate business problems and opportunities
  • Ability to solve business problems through the proactive identification of issues and subsequent collection, analysis and interpretation of relevant data
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analysis within a broad framework of AbbVie’s financial policies (CFMs), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • MBA in Accounting or Finance and/or CPA/CMA
  • Multi-division experience and knowledge of the financial planning process
  • Solid understanding and proficiency in BPC, Workiva, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, automation and AI Use Case development

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Long-Range Plan (LRP), Plan, LBE, and UPD processes to ensure accurate, timely, and well-reasoned financial planning deliverables
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and business leaders to consolidate inputs, support forecasting, and meet corporate calendar deadlines
  • Provide thoughtful analysis of key assumptions, variances, and business trends, with clear recommendations for senior management
  • Prepare executive-level reporting and presentations for supported business leaders, ensuring information is accurate, concise, actionable, and executive-ready
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting activities, including P&L, headcount, balance sheet, and capital analysis
  • Collaborate with Accounting Shared Services and business partners to ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial results and commentary
  • Review and approve financial items such as purchase orders and invoices and prepare Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs), as needed
  • Drive process improvement, system standardization, and reporting enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and business support to enable informed decision-making
  • Work with a high degree of self-motivation and accountability to manage priorities and deliver results
