About The Position

TD Securities US Finance is part of the broader TD Securities Finance organization and one of three regional finance groups supporting TD Bank Group’s Wholesale Banking segment. The team plays a key key role in the United States by supporting financial, management, liquidity, and regulatory reporting. As a primary control and support function in the region, TD Securities US Finance also provides business information for projects and strategic initiatives and serves as a liaison among teams and business segments in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Singapore. The Senior Finance Analyst, TDS conducts a range of LOB related financial analysis and/or provides finance support as it relates to a Business Partner Finance area supported. This role requires in-depth knowledge/expertise in own domain/field of specialty and working knowledge of broader related areas. It involves researching and investigating a range of financial accounting/audit operational and/or reporting issues, requiring specialized and/or advanced technical/finance knowledge. The role may need to coordinate/integrate work with other areas as needed and performs advanced analysis or specialized work that requires a good understanding of financial accounting or related operational policies and procedures. It integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area, understands the industry, competition and the factors that differentiate the organization, and applies best practices to implement process, product or service improvements. The analyst acts as a subject matter expert within their own area of specialty or a resource for others, contributes to setting standards within their area of expertise, and solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders. This role impacts a range of functional programs and operations across own and related teams, interprets guidelines, standards, policies and results of analysis to inform decision making at senior levels, and builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities. The analyst may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels and works independently as the senior technical lead, guiding others within their area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field; accounting proficiency is preferred.
  • 3+ years of financial services experience, preferably in capital markets.
  • Proven analytical skills and sound judgment in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to translate complex, high-volume reporting requirements, and data into simple, consistent, and sustainable processes.
  • Demonstrated data aggregation and reconciliation skills.
  • Strong understanding of process and data governance, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated, with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Curious, intuitive, and logical thinker with a strong interest in identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Understanding of Wholesale Banking and Capital Markets businesses, products, and related balance sheet and profit-and-loss movements.
  • Collaborative team player who can also work effectively and independently.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills are required; knowledge of Alteryx is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and collaborate laterally with business partners.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements would be an asset.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with business partners and senior management at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist in regulatory report production for TDS as required by U.S. regulators, including the Federal Reserve Board (FRB), Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), and U.S. Department of the Treasury.
  • Research financial, accounting, audit, operational, and reporting matters; interpret applicable guidelines, standards, policies, and analysis.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource by working independently, providing subject-matter and process guidance, coaching colleagues, and building stakeholder alignment on projects and activities.
  • Partner with Finance teams to enhance processes, including report production, system queries, process mapping, specialized tracking, analysis, and transactional support.
  • Understand data attributes and sources to identify issues to improve reporting processes, by using current or AI enhanced tools.
  • Assist in automation of workflows and implementation of new databases and systems, as needed (i.e., Axiom).
  • Interpret data flows and internal data architecture to optimize data management for regulatory reporting team.
  • Support governance requirements and partner with Compliance and 1B to maintain effective data and process governance, key controls, and analytics.
  • Continue developing expertise in regulatory concepts, practices, data, and reporting processes.
  • Support other key departmental projects and initiatives assigned by the manager.
  • Maintain procedures and supporting documentation, including gathering required information from source systems and business partners.
  • Analyze business and accounting movements to support regulatory reporting variance analysis.
  • Conducts regular, ongoing analysis, evaluation and review of business performance and initiatives against established reference points (e.g., plan, prior year, business cases) as directed.
  • Provides advice and guidance to Finance Management and/or business partners and appropriate stakeholders on a range of finance accounting/reporting or operational processes.
  • Applies understanding of respective business strategies to produce relevant and meaningful data analysis and materials to support the creation and maturation of business goals and objectives.
  • Develops analysis and proper dashboards to illustrate business trends and identifies areas of business opportunities.
  • Coordinates and/or consolidates financial information needs/requests among various parties (e.g. business Finance Teams, other stakeholders, external parties/regulators/auditors and/or centralized Finance).
  • Acts as a key resource to the business or functional unit by providing relevant and meaningful financial information/data /guidance on specialized procedures and/or issues (e.g. tax, accounting principles, reconciliation/reporting/financial controls/finance processes etc.).
  • Identifies variances and contributes to the analysis, due diligence and execution and/or implementation of potential initiatives, acquisitions and/or business re-structures within defined area of responsibility.
  • Contributes and works with FinOps or Specialized Finance teams to provide input and feedback on enhancing operational activities s (e.g. report production, system queries, process mapping, specialized tracking, analysis and transactional procedural support) where appropriate.
  • Adheres to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for our business area.
  • Ensures respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities.
  • Identifies and investigates data/analytics related issues.
  • Consistently exercises discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate.
  • Ensures business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets).
  • Participates in cross-functional/enterprise initiatives helping to identify risk.
  • Conducts internal and external research projects; supports the development/delivery of presentations/communications to management or broader audience.
  • Conducts meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, makes recommendations, assesses the effectiveness of programs/policies/practices.
  • Monitors service, productivity and assesses efficiency levels within own function and implements continuous process/performance improvements where opportunities exist.
