About The Position

ESE Consultants, Inc., Toll Brothers’ in-house engineering, surveying, and land planning division, is hiring a Senior Field Surveyor / Crew Chief for operations in the Danbury, Connecticut area. This independent, field-based role supports residential land development projects from Reston, Virginia, to Columbia, Maryland. The position operates as a one-person survey crew and performs construction stakeout and layout for residential subdivision development, including roads, utilities, lots, and home construction.

Requirements

At least 5 years of related experience.
High school education or equivalent.
Clean driving record.
Ability to stay up to date with changing survey technology.
Comfort working alone in isolated and remote areas.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to excel in a physically and technically demanding position.
Basic understanding of engineering drawings.
Basic understanding of survey-specific codes and regulations.

Nice To Haves

AutoCAD experience.
Additional survey-specific classes.

Responsibilities

Perform construction stakeout.
Perform construction as-builts, including wall checks and location surveys.
Conduct topographic surveys.
Perform residential infrastructure stakeout for water, sewer, storm drainage, and curb and gutter (C&G).
Perform site as-builts.
Complete basic computations and cutsheets.
Conduct boundary surveys.
Conduct ALTA surveys.
