About The Position

Performs complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer’s facilities. This includes electrical testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs to electrical apparatus. Responsible for troubleshooting, training, establishing LOTO, interacting with customers, report writing, etc.

Requirements

  • Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, while utilizing excellent judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to be consistently on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills to include on time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrates the responsibility required to keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 10/30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR training.

Nice To Haves

  • Doble DTAF and Power DB knowledge is preferred, training will be provided.
  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Military experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV within 6 months of employment.
  • Project management experience and be able to support management in the planning, scheduling, execution and cost management of field projects.

Responsibilities

  • Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and write diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
  • Lead transformer testing including Power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance, partial discharge, and leakage reactance.
  • Lead cable testing including Insulation resistance, tan delta, hipot, TDR, partial discharge, and cable thumper.
  • Lead circuit breaker testing including Insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, breaker timing, SF6 gas analysis, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection testing, and vacuum bottle integrity testing.
  • Test both electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays.
  • Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Plan, participate, and develop safety meetings and training.
  • Support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.
