About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to support a position in Northern Virginia. This role requires 30-40% CONUS travel. The Field Engineer will deploy, install, and maintain servers, routers, edge switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware in support of customer operations. This is a fast-paced program that requires someone who works well in a dynamic environment. The Field Engineer is responsible for procedural input to the planning, preparation, and execution of all projects. They will be responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff, and must have the ability to complete complex assignments without direction and direct more junior engineers. The work will vary based on site specific requirements, but shall include, as applicable, the following types of activities: Perform the physical setup and configuration of desktop hardware and software to include external peripherals. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues. Install applicable equipment (with racks if needed). Perform onsite testing of equipment and coordinate with other engineers. Install and connect applicable cables. Coordinate pick-up and delivery of equipment. Troubleshoot desktop and network anomalies and contact the appropriate groups for additional support. Serve as technical liaison between the site and the appropriate technical business areas for resolution of IT issues and system upgrades. Build workstations per established procedures. Manage software and hardware support as needed. Maintain access control by creating new user accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and troubleshooting user login or access issues. Monitor server activities and provide technical support that requires expert knowledge using advanced technical principles. Maintain operational status of all phone systems. After hours response/resolution for technical issues is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field; and at least 8 years of experience or 12 years of related experience performing engineering functions on programs of similar size, scope, and complexity in lieu of degree.
  • Active TS/SCI with poly clearance.
  • 8+ years as an engineer supporting technical programs.
  • Experience in IP Related Services: TCP/IP.
  • Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches.
  • Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, to include installation/connection.
  • Working knowledge of CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabricating required equipment.
  • Knowledge of fiber, servers, routers, edge switches and desktop hardware.
  • Experience using Remedy, VISIO, and MS Office.
