About The Position

The Senior Field Application Engineer performs advanced field support while providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to other FAEs. This role is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of traffic signal and traffic management equipment. This is a critical field operations position supporting cities, counties, states, and other public agencies to ensure reliable, high‑performance system operation. The role works under general supervision and exercises significant independent judgment and decision‑making authority.

Requirements

  • Four‑year college degree in engineering related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of traffic signal field experience.
  • IMSA Level III Certification required.
  • Experience with Traffic Management Systems required.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with electronic tools, diagnostic equipment, and test instruments.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train and support customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with standard office software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally and work non‑standard hours to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving high‑quality results efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to new and existing Field Application Engineers.
  • Support the growth and development of field teams and contribute to process and performance improvements.
  • Perform traffic signal turn‑on activities, including installation, setup, commissioning, and servicing of field equipment.
  • Configure and support controllers and video detection systems.
  • Troubleshoot traffic control cabinets and associated field equipment.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve equipment malfunctions using maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, electronic tools, and test equipment.
  • Rework, repair, test, troubleshoot, and maintain traffic signal and traffic management equipment.
  • Train public agency engineers and signal technicians on traffic signal equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and field activities in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Assist in diagnosing and analyzing malfunctions in operational equipment and support corrective actions.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support operational and customer needs.
