The specialist may coordinate specific departmental services with overall responsibility for daily activities and outcomes. Key tasks include providing direct client services, leading complex cases, assessing and screening clients, preparing court reports, testifying in court, training, mentoring, maintaining records, and determining necessary actions to meet client needs. The Senior Family Services Specialist acts as a lead worker and provides support and coverage in the supervisor's absence. Employees operate with a high degree of independence within established policies and procedures, seeking supervisory assistance only for unusually complicated situations.
