About The Position

ABC7 Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Executive Producer to lead strategy and execution across all morning news platforms. This role is for a proven Executive Producer ready for a career advancement, requiring a visionary leader passionate about morning coverage and dedicated to serving viewers seven days a week. The position involves utilizing a state-of-the-art set to innovate breaking news, weather, traffic, and storytelling, while motivating and collaborating with a diverse team. The Sr. EP will have overall oversight of morning newscasts on linear and streaming, working closely with news and station management to establish strategy, resources, and results. The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading a news team in a major market, thrives under pressure, makes quick, smart editorial decisions, and encourages journalistic excellence. This role sets the pace and standards for the newsroom, owning editorial direction and execution to ensure the product stands out and leads the market. Knowledge of Southern California is a plus.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years experience in local television newsroom management
• Demonstrated ability to work under deadline pressure in a fast-paced, big market environment
• Excellent writing skills
• Excellent verbal and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Drive strategy and execution across ALL morning platforms
• Effectively execute breaking news throughout the morning
• Work directly with assignment desk to proactively plan out morning coverage in advance and in the moment
• Supervise entire morning linear and digital staff; which includes a weekend Executive Producer and weekday Sr. Producer
• Serve as mentor and motivator
• Possess the ability to jump in as needed including producing and commanding a live control room
• Work with morning talent on development opportunities
• Work directly with station leadership to evaluate results and opportunities
• Work directly with research department to analyze ratings and data insights
• Create a culture of collaboration and innovation
