The Senior Event Manager is the primary liaison between the Charlotte Convention Center and clients from the initial booking of highly complex events through the conclusion of events.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; and five to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; and Two-way radio.

Responsibilities

  • Manages events of significant complexity which consist but is not limited to large, citywide, and national events to ensure the execution of services which include public safety, cleanliness of facility, room set-up, power distribution, lighting, and air temperature.
  • On-site Building Manager during events directly overseeing all departments and service contractors in relation to the Execution of the Event.
  • Coordinates and manages scheduling of outside vendors and in-house contractors to include ShowPros event staffing, audio-visual companies, decorators, EMT, off-duty police officers, fire inspectors, any others who are needed to make events run smoothly.
  • Acts as liaison between the client and fire marshal on review and approval of tradeshow plans.
  • Exercises tact and courtesy in performing duties in achieving the common goal of customer satisfaction.
  • Produces event agendas and develops contingency plans for complex events by scripting client event specifications and distributes agenda to appropriate departments for execution.
  • Enforces event regulations and handles emergency situations.
  • Acts as Director of Convention Services in Director’s absence.
  • Meets deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Creates & Revises detailed room diagrams for events and distributes to appropriate staff.
  • Conducts pre-event meetings with clients to discuss the flow and overview of the event.
  • Monitors event while it is occurring to ensure all activities are executed in a timely manner.
  • Conducts site visits with clients prior to events to identify any areas of concern or adjust the itinerary if needed.
  • Prepares post-event summaries, provides billing information, and critiques execution of event and general client service experience.
  • Prepares reports for Risk Management in the event of patron accidents.
  • Provides direction for other event managers as necessary.
  • May perform other duties as required.
