About The Position

This role is responsible for delivering accurate budgets, proposals, or guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for large projects and successfully transitioning the project from estimation to the operations team. The Senior Estimator will lead the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates, bids, and proposals for complex construction projects, analyze blueprints, manage subcontractor bidding, assess risks, and ensure profitability through accurate cost calculations. They will also mentor junior estimators and maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, and material pricing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in preconstruction/estimating, with a proven record of managing high-value bids.
  • Experience in leading the preparation of conceptual, design, and hard bid estimates.
  • Proficiency in performing, reviewing, and finalizing detailed quantity take-offs and unit cost calculations.
  • Experience in analyzing bid documents for risks and opportunities, and developing strategic plans for project bids.
  • Experience in mentoring junior estimators.
  • Deep understanding of construction means and methods, building codes, and material pricing.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage subcontractor bidding and assess risks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates, bids, and proposals for complex construction projects.

  • Analyze bid documents for risks and opportunities, and develop strategic plans for project bids.
  • Mentor junior estimators, providing guidance and training to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure seamless transition from estimation to operations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, and material pricing.
  • Exhibit strong leadership, analytical skills, and effective communication to facilitate successful project outcomes.
