About The Position

AlphaHire is recruiting on behalf of a client in the specialty construction contracting industry serving advanced manufacturing, mission-critical, and industrial construction markets. The Senior Estimator leads complex estimating efforts and develops accurate, competitive bids for Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) projects. The role involves independently evaluating project scope, pricing, and cost risks from initial bid review through final proposal submission. Candidates based in Knoxville or East Tennessee are preferred; remote candidates may be considered based on experience and fit.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of direct construction estimating or closely related project management experience; substantial IMP estimating experience is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience preparing and owning complex estimates and competitive bids for Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) projects.
• Advanced ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, blueprints, and bid documents.
• Extensive experience with quantity takeoffs, labor and material pricing, installation costs, and construction cost analysis.
• Proficiency with construction estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and related estimating tools.
• Strong commercial judgment and analytical skills, including the ability to identify pricing risks, scope gaps, and cost-saving opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates and competitive bids for Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) projects.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid packages to establish project scope, installation requirements, and costs.
• Oversee quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, and installation costs.
• Evaluate project requirements, identify scope gaps, and assess cost exposures that could affect bid accuracy and profitability.
• Analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations to validate pricing, identify discrepancies, and support competitive bids.
• Develop bid proposals that clearly define scope inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, and pricing.
• Collaborate with general contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical questions and confirm project requirements.
• Establish and maintain consistent estimating documentation, pricing records, and bid review processes.
• Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and commercial competitiveness before submission.
• Provide estimating guidance and technical input on complex IMP projects to support pricing decisions and project acquisition.
