About The Position

AlphaHire is recruiting on behalf of a client serving advanced manufacturing, mission-critical, and industrial construction markets. The Senior Estimator will lead estimating and bid development for Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) projects in a specialty construction subcontracting environment. The role owns complex estimates from bid-document review and scope evaluation through accurate pricing and competitive proposal submission. Candidates based in Knoxville or East Tennessee are preferred; remote work or relocation may be considered for qualified candidates.

Requirements

At least 8 years of direct construction estimating or closely related project management experience.
Proven ability to independently develop and own complex construction estimates and competitive bids.
Advanced ability to interpret construction drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and bid documents.
Extensive experience with quantity takeoffs, labor and material pricing, installation costs, and construction cost analysis.
Proficiency with construction estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and related cost estimation tools.
Strong commercial judgment and analytical skills, including the ability to identify scope gaps, evaluate cost risks, and develop accurate pricing strategies.
Direct estimating or project cost ownership is required; general commercial construction experience without relevant estimating responsibility or comparable specialty construction experience is insufficient.

Responsibilities

Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates and competitive bids for commercial and industrial projects involving Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) systems.
Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid packages to determine project scope, installation requirements, and pricing considerations.
Perform and validate detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, and installation costs.
Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and cost risks that could affect estimate accuracy and project profitability.
Review supplier and subcontractor quotations, validate pricing, and resolve discrepancies before finalizing estimates.
Develop bid proposals with defined pricing, scope inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions.
Communicate with general contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and address bid-related questions.
Maintain estimating records, cost data, and bid documentation.
Review estimates for completeness, accuracy, and competitiveness before final submission.
Provide technical estimating guidance and pricing recommendations to support bid strategy and profitable project acquisition.
