To provide lead supervision over a crew of maintenance personnel; to operate heavy equipment; and to participate in a wide variety of street tasks performing construction and repair work. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the advanced journey level class in the Equipment Operator class series with responsibility for lead supervision of a small crew of workers engaged in skilled and semi-skilled equipment operation, construction, maintenance and repair of streets. Specific work orders, orally or in written form, or general assignments for a given area, are received from a supervisor. The employee is expected to carry out work to completion based upon knowledge obtained through experience in the area of assignment. Positions assigned to this class can be further distinguished from lower level classes by operating the most complex equipment with a high degree of skill. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general supervision from a Street Supervisor. Exercises lead supervision over lower level Equipment Operators.
