About The Position
The City of Staunton’s Public Works Department is seeking an Equipment Operator II to join its team in the Streets Division. The successful candidate performs manual labor and operates medium and heavy duty equipment in the construction, repair and maintenance of City streets. Equipment includes utility truck, dump truck, boom truck, air compressor, backhoe. Performs on-call, after-hours emergency services on a rotational basis. Services and makes minor repairs to equipment.
Requirements
- Strong proven work ethic
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and with a crew
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor in all types of weather
- Ability to eventually perform standby duty
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the operation of construction equipment with similar duties
- Virginia Class B CDL with tanker endorsement
- Flagger certification
