About the position
Wizards of the Coast is seeking a passionate and dedicated Senior Environment Artist to join their new game development studio, Skeleton Key. As part of the team, you will play a meaningful role in concepting and pre-production, creating benchmark environments that define the look and feel of the immersive world. The role requires strong attention to detail, expertise in real-time asset creation, and collaboration with the Art Director and creative leads to drive the artistic vision. With 5+ years of experience in AAA digital game development, you will contribute to improving environmental lighting, textures, materials, and assets, while also helping to shape the environment art pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Build beautiful, benchmark environments in engine, setting the quality bar for the project.
- Assess, critique, and help to improve capabilities in environmental lighting, textures, materials, and assets.
- Work with engineering and technical design to help form and implement the environment art pipeline.
- Work closely with the Art Director and creative leads to drive and evangelize the artistic vision to team members.
- Help strategize and plan all environment art in collaboration with the concept and design teams.
Requirements
- 5+ yrs experience in AAA digital game development as an Environment Artist specializing in top-quality terrain, assets, shaders, and lighting.
- Self-motivation, strong communication skills, and a great team-player attitude.
- Creative initiative and vision to take an environment to completion from either a detailed or simple concept image.
- Detailed understanding of next-generation asset creation pipelines and tools.
- Experience collaborating with senior creative leadership to help build and implement the artistic direction of a game.
- Outstanding eye for lighting, materials, color theory, detail, and visual hierarchy and composition.
- Able to effectively collaborate with game designers, programmers, and other art team members in a creative spirit.
- Proven problem-solving and prototyping ability.
