About The Position

EverCommerce is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead two cross-functional product development squads for their Joist product. Joist is an end-to-end vertical software platform designed for small to medium-sized trades contractors, offering web and mobile applications for estimating, invoicing, recording payments, and managing projects. The company aims to make contractors heroes and is a leading platform in North America, the UK, and Australia with significant growth plans. The role involves contributing to solutions from inception to deployment, focusing on supporting rapid iteration and innovation to redefine the home renovation industry.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading engineers as their direct manager in a product development environment, preferably managing teams that span multiple technology stacks.
  • 5+ years of professional industry experience as a software developer working in agile teams.
  • A successful record of mentoring and growing other engineers.
  • A proven ability to take ownership of software projects, from scoping and estimation all the way to being live in production.
  • Experience partnering with Product Management to experiment, iterate, and ship fast for customers.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely about deeply technical topics in an easy-to-understand way.
  • Strong opinions about building great software and products, coupled with receptiveness to the views of others and the ability to be flexible or hold steady as needed.
  • Expertise in agile software development processes and knowledge of what it takes to operate high-performing engineering squads.
  • Eligibility to work without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to travel to Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or other office locations around North America.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with Ruby on Rails, React, iOS (Swift), or Android (Kotlin).
  • Background managing teams in companies with multiple product squads sharing a common platform/infrastructure.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field.

Responsibilities

  • Guide a team by example, instilling values of kindness, quality, and ownership, and providing feedback for team improvement.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with peers both within and outside of engineering to solve complex problems.
  • Guide teams to set clear objectives, communicate up-to-date delivery timelines, and remove roadblocks to ensure project delivery to customers.
  • Dissect business problems into well-designed, robust, and scalable systems with the assistance of engineers.
  • Select the appropriate tools and technologies based on a strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and data storage technologies.
  • Demonstrate passion for technology, teamwork, change, and building an industry-revolutionizing product.
