About The Position

Genius AI is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager, Infrastructure to lead their Compute, Data, and DevEx teams. This role is critical as it owns the technology that powers everything Genius AI ships. The manager will be responsible for setting reliability standards, managing vendor expenses, and developing a self-service platform for product engineers. They will define the future of the platform and grow the team responsible for its development. The position is based in San Francisco, requiring the individual to be commutable to the office and operate in an in-person environment, with an expectation of being in the office 3-4 days per week.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure or platform engineering.
  • At least 4 years of experience managing or leading engineering teams in a high-growth technology company.
  • Demonstrated experience fundamentally changing team operations through AI, including designing systems, absorbing work, and reallocating engineer responsibilities.
  • Ability to make decisions and drive progress with incomplete information, shipping solutions and iterating based on data.
  • Experience managing managers or tech leads and scaling teams during periods of significant growth without compromising performance or culture.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, ArgoCD, and modern observability tooling.
  • Ability to debug complex distributed systems.
  • Strong business acumen, treating cloud spend, developer velocity, and reliability as enablement functions directly connected to business levers.
  • Proven track record of developing engineers and their subsequent career achievements.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical roadmap for infrastructure and the data platform, defining how to scale to support significantly more traffic while maintaining a 99.95% uptime target and controlling cloud spend across multiple AWS regions.
  • Shape agentic production operations by building an AI enablement layer that allows engineers to delegate routine operational tasks to agents.
  • Define the reliability engineering practice in collaboration with product engineering, establishing SLI and SLO frameworks, and managing incident response and post-mortems.
  • Improve developer experience across the organization by standardizing the CI platform and providing self-service tooling for infrastructure management as code.
  • Lead incident command during critical outages and ensure that incidents result in systemic fixes rather than follow-up tickets.
  • Manage vendor strategy and the infrastructure budget, including negotiating enterprise contracts and leading migrations to new vendors when beneficial.
  • Develop engineers and guide their career progression.
