Senior Engineering Manager, Cloud Infrastructure

Mesh•San Francisco, CA
•$246,000 - $282,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Mesh is hiring a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager, Cloud Infrastructure, to own and evolve the technical foundation powering its products. The role combines direct infrastructure work—including writing Terraform, operating production AKS clusters, and responding to incidents—with leading, growing, and hiring a team of infrastructure engineers. The position owns Mesh’s Azure cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code practices, Kubernetes operations, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud data infrastructure. It partners with security engineering to harden infrastructure and support compliance goals, develops AI-augmented observability, and sets reliability and observability standards across engineering. The manager also works closely with Backend, Product, and Security teams on architecture decisions and major launches. Mesh describes its work environment as remote-friendly, with a hybrid in-office expectation for employees based in its San Francisco, New York, and Bangalore hubs: at least 40% of the time, approximately two days per week. Requirements may vary by role, team, and business needs.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of engineering experience, including meaningful experience managing cloud infrastructure teams.
  • Ability to contribute hands-on in design documents and code reviews while also providing leadership.
  • Deep, hands-on cloud infrastructure experience; strong AWS or GCP experience is also considered competitive for candidates willing to develop Azure expertise.
  • End-to-end ownership of DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and deployment and release practices.
  • Strong security mindset and experience with authentication and authorization, network isolation, secrets management, zero-trust practices, and production infrastructure hardening.
  • Track record of developer productivity improvements, such as internal platforms, toolchain automation, deployment speed, or developer experience initiatives.
  • Active use of AI tools and experience driving structured adoption on a team.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across time zones and keeping remote engineers aligned without unnecessary synchronous overhead.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, move quickly with incomplete information, and adapt to shifting priorities; prior startup or high-growth company experience.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on leadership role.
