In this role, you’ll build and manage a skilled team of Android and Embedded SW engineers who are on the mission to build world class Bluetooth and Connectivity Management applications. We are looking for a technical leader who can help us build and deliver at scale, a next generation platform that powers both Rivian and Volkswagen vehicle platforms. You’ll also be responsible for pushing forward technical initiatives, working with product and program on quarterly planning activities, gaining alignment on priorities with cross functional partners and following through on delivery.

Requirements

  • B.S. / M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3+ years in an engineering management or technical lead role
  • Strong background in Android platform development, including Android framework, HAL, and application layers
  • Solid understanding of Bluetooth stack architecture (Bluedroid / BlueZ / Fluoride) and core profiles
  • Hands-on experience with Android ConnectivityManager, NetworkCallback, and related networking APIs
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking — IP routing, DHCP, DNS, and network capability management within Android
  • Proficiency in Java/Kotlin, and C/C++
  • Strong technical and strategic vision, with the ability to translate broad objectives into actionable engineering plans
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to collaboratively work with, mentor, and influence cross-functional, senior, and globally distributed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a team of Android and Embedded SW engineers with focus on Bluetooth and connectivity management.
  • Own and drive software development strategy for Bluetooth features on Android-based infotainment platform.
  • Oversee integration of Bluetooth features within Android framework layers including device management, recovery, integration with audio and media subsystems.
  • Lead architectural decisions for connectivity management and their interaction with Android framework layers (Connectivity, HAL, Network Manager)
  • Oversee software development for building custom connectivity HAL layer to integrate with Android Connectivity framework for handling connectivity switching on distributed ECUs.
  • Establish standards for modular, scalable software design, promoting reusable design patterns and libraries across the team
  • Own the technical design process, guiding developers on architectural choices, design decisions, and resolution of complex technical challenges
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with product, UI/UX, and platform teams to shape feature definitions, resolve bottlenecks ensuring best-in-class Bluetooth and connectivity experience
  • Instill a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and accountability within and beyond the team
