About The Position

Raft is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join their passionate team. This role involves shaping the foundation of software infrastructure and leading multiple software teams in production environments at scale. The engineer will work on a real-time data platform for the DoD, collecting, enriching, and querying data from over 750 sensors to provide a cohesive operating picture for decision-making. The platform handles over a billion events daily with millisecond latency, utilizing technologies such as Kafka, Kafka Streams, Pinot, Java, Scala, and Kubernetes. This is a hands-on role within a team of high achievers.

Requirements

5+ years of experience being a hands-on engineer
Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Kotlin
Experience with Kafka and Kafka Streams
Experience creating web-socket and RESTFul APIs
Ability to work well within a team and make decisions that align with team goals
Curiosity about time series and geospatial data
Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
Ability to obtain a Security+ certification within 90 days of employment
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience with time-series data in PostgreSQL or another SQL-flavored database
