Senior Engineer, Mobile Applications

Carrier•Indianapolis, IN
•$96,000 - $192,000•Remote

About The Position

Carrier Global Corporation is a global provider of intelligent climate and energy solutions. Its Digital Products and Software team develops connected experiences that help homeowners and technicians monitor, control, and support comfort systems. The Senior Engineer, Mobile Applications will work on the Residential platform, designing and improving customer-facing and field-facing mobile capabilities while working across cloud-backed APIs, authentication, and app-to-service integrations. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role focused on development across iOS and Android. The engineer will own technical decisions, contribute directly to implementation, mentor less-experienced engineers, and help raise standards for mobile delivery and mobile-to-cloud integration. The role involves collaboration with backend, cloud, product, design, QA, and support teams, with regular overlap during U.S. Eastern Time business hours. The posting contains differing work-model statements: the role information describes the work model as remote within the United States, while an earlier statement says it is hybrid and requires being local to a Carrier office location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a hard science (physical, life, or applied science).
  • 7 or more years of software engineering experience.
  • 4 or more years building and shipping production mobile applications across both iOS and Android.
  • 3 or more years of hands-on React Native and TypeScript experience.
  • 2 or more years integrating mobile applications with REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, or comparable service-based backends.
  • 2 or more years working with authentication, authorization, token lifecycle management, and secure session handling in production applications.
  • 2 or more years building, supporting, or troubleshooting backend or cloud services in AWS or a comparable cloud environment.
  • 3 or more years debugging issues across app, API, and cloud-service boundaries.
  • 2 or more years working with modern CI/CD, code review, testing, and release workflows for mobile delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively during U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with connected-home, IoT, smart-device, or subscription-based consumer applications.
  • Experience with backend technologies such as Node.js and TypeScript for API or service-layer development.
  • Experience with API gateways, backend-for-frontend patterns, or identity-provider integrations.
  • Experience with secure local storage patterns such as Keychain, MMKV, SecureStore, AsyncStorage, or comparable approaches.
  • Experience with state-management and data-fetching patterns such as Redux Toolkit, RTK Query, or similar approaches.
  • Experience with mobile observability, crash analysis, and production diagnostics using Crashlytics, LogRocket, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with native integrations such as BLE, biometrics, camera or QR flows, OEM SDKs, or React Native native modules.
  • Familiarity with AWS-backed platforms, cloud debugging, and backend operational concepts.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, Kiro, or similar tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain mobile features across Residential applications on iOS and Android.
  • Lead technical delivery for complex React Native and TypeScript mobile work in a shared-codebase environment.

  • Contribute to backend-facing work, including API contract design, authentication and session behavior, payload handling, and service-integration troubleshooting.
  • Improve application stability, performance, responsiveness, and release quality across iOS and Android.
  • Help define mobile architecture, state management, secure local storage, synchronization behavior, and maintainable component patterns.
  • Troubleshoot production issues across mobile, API, authentication, and cloud-service boundaries.
  • Contribute to CI/CD, release readiness, app-store delivery, and secure engineering practices.
  • Partner with cloud engineering, product, UX, QA, and support teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
