About The Position

Microchip’s Network and Connectivity Solutions Group develops integrated Ethernet PHY, switch, and network interface controller solutions. This role is part of a global engineering organization with teams in the United States, Denmark, India, Taiwan, and China. Based in Hauppauge, New York, or Austin, Texas, the position develops, integrates, and maintains Ethernet device drivers and supporting software for Microchip USB- and PCIe-based network interface devices across operating systems including Linux, Windows, QNX, VxWorks, and other embedded or real-time platforms. The engineer collaborates with hardware, firmware, validation, applications, and customer-support teams in the United States, Denmark, and India. The role requires developing a detailed understanding of Microchip Ethernet NIC architecture, specifications, interfaces, and use cases, and applying that knowledge to driver design, integration, debugging, and customer support. It also involves supporting customer integration by reproducing system-level issues, analyzing driver, protocol, performance, and hardware interactions, identifying root causes, and delivering verified resolutions. Candidates should have a bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field, along with at least 7.5 years of relevant experience. The position requires embedded, driver, or low-level software development experience; strong C/C++ programming skills and working experience with Python; knowledge of processor architectures and operating-system internals; and the ability to read board-level schematics and debug systems with laboratory equipment. The stated annual base salary range is $70,304 to $205,000, depending on location, skills, and experience. Total compensation includes base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field, with 7.5 or more years of relevant experience.
