About The Position

As part of ASM’s Global Common Engineering team, the Senior Engineer II will design mechanical hardware for advanced semiconductor process chambers supporting ALD, PE-ALD, and Epitaxy applications. The work enables the next generation of memory chips and microprocessors. The engineer will collaborate across R&D and engineering teams to develop concepts and bring them into high-volume manufacturing.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or higher.
• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD; Creo is preferred.
• Familiarity with fabrication methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, and coatings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
• Comfort working in laboratory and cleanroom environments, including performing manual tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the semiconductor or capital equipment industry.
• Knowledge of vacuum systems, wafer handling, gas/fluid delivery, or robotics.
• Experience with modern DFx practices.
• Familiarity with SEMI standards, such as S2.
• Experience with PLM tools and methodologies.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and manage large design projects.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally less than 10%.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems and products for ASM process chambers using sound engineering principles.
• Interpret and design to gas, water, and pneumatic schematics.
• Make data-based design decisions in a cross-functional team environment.
• Lead hardware development from concept through testing and high-volume manufacturing readiness.
• Create and manage 3D CAD models in Creo and 2D drawings with GD&T.
• Perform structural, thermal, and fluid-dynamics engineering analyses.
• Maintain product configuration using PLM tools.
• Participate in design reviews and drive design-for-X (DFx) activities.
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve fabrication challenges.
• Prepare manufacturing and testing documentation.
• Support cost estimation for new features and enhancements.
