Senior Engineer I, Electrical Engineering

Kulicke & Soffa•Fort Washington, PA

About The Position

The Senior Engineer I, Electrical Engineering designs, develops, integrates, and debugs electrical systems for industrial semiconductor equipment. The role focuses on electrical cabling and interconnections between electronics modules, high-speed digital communication buses, and industrial control systems. It also maintains wiring diagrams and system architectures, models cable harnesses in 3D CAD, and manages bills of materials and product changes in Teamcenter. The engineer works with vendors, contractors, procurement, purchasing, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and deliver technically sound, cost-effective electrical design solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a Mechatronics concentration and at least 4 years of relevant industry experience, or a master’s degree in electrical engineering or a Mechatronics concentration and at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, and debug electrical systems for industrial semiconductor equipment.
  • Design cabling and interconnections between electronics modules, including connector selection and cable-gauge definition.
  • Develop high-speed interconnects for digital communication buses using EtherCAT, I2C, Ethernet, and USB protocols.
  • Develop interconnects and cables for industrial control systems using motor controllers, I/O controllers, solenoids, switches, and sensors.
  • Create and maintain wiring diagrams and electrical interconnections aligned with existing system architectures; modify or develop architectures to meet evolving design requirements.
  • Model cable harnesses using 3D CAD packages such as NX and AutoCAD.
  • Create bills of materials and use Teamcenter to release products and manage engineering change orders and changes related to troubleshooting, part obsolescence, copy-exact requirements, and production feedback.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors on outsourced design and integration activities.
  • Work with procurement and purchasing to keep cable drawings and bills of materials current for manufacturing and implement engineering changes at suppliers.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Develop technically sound and cost-effective electrical design solutions.
