About The Position

The Digital Integration Engineer is part of ASM’s Global Product Operation organization and owns the development, integration, governance, and validation of complex digital product models that enable virtual product development across the product lifecycle. The role works closely with Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and other cross-functional teams, applying CAD, PLM, and Model-Based Engineering methodologies to identify and resolve design, integration, and manufacturability challenges early. Through digital product definition and validation, this position helps reduce program risk and development costs, improve product quality, and accelerate time-to-market. It supports ASM’s digital engineering strategy by strengthening system integration, validating design and lifecycle requirements before physical builds, enabling Digital Twin capabilities, and improving collaboration through a common digital product definition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience working with complex mechanical and electromechanical systems, including significant ability in product configuration management, system integration, and DMU environments.
  • Advanced ability with CAD/DMU platforms such as Siemens NX and PTC Creo, and associated PLM systems.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in mechanical system design and integration, product development processes, configuration and BOM management, manufacturing operations and readiness, product packaging and accessory integration, assembly, installation and validation methodologies, and serviceability, maintainability, and lifecycle support planning.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience applying Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to product development and process improvement initiatives.
  • Expert knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards, with at least seven years of practical application.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions, influence stakeholders, and resolve complex engineering issues across disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management (CMII) and enterprise change management practices.
  • Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and methodologies.
  • Experience supporting and enabling Digital Twin, VR, and AR technology initiatives.
  • Proven experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs in semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, or other advanced manufacturing industries.
  • Ability to decompose complex technical challenges into manageable, actionable solutions.
  • Ability to influence across matrixed organizations, foster stakeholder alignment, and drive execution through collaboration, credibility, and relationship-based leadership.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation, management, and validation of enterprise Digital Mockups (DMUs) and Master Assembly structures using Siemens NX, PTC Creo, or equivalent CAD/DMU platforms.
  • Develop and support digital product structures, subsystem architectures, graphical BOMs, configuration variants, and enterprise product definitions throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Manage Relational Layout Models (RLMs) and support the implementation of Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE) methodologies.
  • Lead virtual product validation activities, including clash and interference analysis, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and serviceability, maintainability, and installation reviews.
  • Support Engineering Change Management (ECM) and Configuration Management processes, maintaining alignment across As-Designed, As-Planned, and As-Built product definitions.
  • Identify and resolve product integration, packaging, manufacturability, and serviceability issues across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Present DMU maturity assessments, integration status, technical risks, mitigation strategies, and recommendations to program leadership and stakeholders.
  • Enable Service, Safety, Training, and other functional organizations to use DMU structures in support of operational, maintenance, readiness, and business goals.
  • Contribute to Digital Twin, Model-Based Engineering, Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR) initiatives.
  • Support ASM’s digital engineering strategy by validating requirements before physical builds, reducing rework and risk, accelerating NPI, enabling Digital Twin capabilities, and improving product quality, reliability, manufacturability, and lifecycle readiness.
