About The Position

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will employ a holistic, cross-functional approach to align complex business objectives with technical requirements, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet user needs throughout the entire product lifecycle—from concept and design through production and operation. You will lead the systematic identification and quantification of requirements, perform critical design trade studies, and oversee the selection, integration, and verification of optimal system architectures. Operating with significant autonomy and professional judgment, you will influence organizational workflows, establish technical priorities, and shape best practices to drive the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of your team and the broader business unit. The Senior System Engineer role will be focused on the deployment of electrical and controls solutions that drive operational operational safety within the GE Vernova wind turbine fleet. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Engineering/Technology if no degree.
  • At least 8 years' experience with a 4-year degree
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of wind or related power generation experience
  • Ability to break down complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision making
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges
  • Strong wind turbine electrical system expertise (control hardware, control software, power systems, etc.)
  • Conceptual design and/or system-level trade-off experience
  • Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical program teams on system trade-offs to deliver optimized solutions that meet program requirements
  • Quantify potential operational risks and develop solutions to mitigate them
  • Execute design changes that drive operational safety of the wind fleet
  • Lead programs through the development process including ownership of technical design reviews
  • Partner with Program Management and Product Line to guide optimal design decisions for current and new products
  • Communicate and provide recommendations through analysis, preparation and presentation of technical material to internal and external audiences
  • Lead Services investments from pre-conceptual design work through design, validation and launch, prioritizing and managing risks on safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Contribute to development of the Multigeneration Engineering Plan for safety and risk mitigating technologies
  • Effectively manage program requirements and requirements flow down to optimize product offering and competitiveness
  • Support and improve the safety and serviceability of the existing wind turbine fleet
