About The Position

Electrified Thermal Solutions is a company focused on electrifying industry by building the Joule Hive™ thermal battery, an energy storage technology that converts and stores renewable electricity as high-temperature heat. Their vision is to mitigate CO2 emissions by deploying this technology in industrial furnaces, turbines, boilers, and kilns. As a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer, you will lead the design of the power electrical system for the Joule Hive™ thermal battery products, ensuring the electrical system and controls meet cost, timeline, and requirements. You will report directly to the VP of Engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with at least seven years of electrical system design and deployment experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing, evaluating and deploying large medium voltage (10+ kV) electrical power systems (switch gears, medium voltage drives, etc.).
  • At least 3 years of experience creating electrical diagrams (wiring, SLD, three-line diagrams, etc.).
  • Experience devising creative design solutions without losing focus on the defined scope and timeline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organization & detail-orientation.
  • A collaborative, highly adaptable spirit, and a love of challenging assumptions.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering license in electrical engineering.
  • Experience designing and developing power electronic equipment and their associated controls from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of the Megawatt-scale electrical system and associated controls for the Joule Hive™ Thermal Battery and subsequent products/projects.
  • Lead the development of electrical analysis/simulation methodologies to support system design.
  • Manage and review work from contractors working on electrical and controls system design, fabrication and installation.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the design team to enable an optimal design that meets requirements.
  • Keep up with the latest tools and programs; perform technical research and self-training as needed.
  • Perform site-specific electrical system studies and designs with customers to enable project execution.
  • Lead hiring, training and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Support on-site system installation and commissioning as necessary.
