Requirements

  • B.S.E.E. from an accredited university or equivalent experience required.
  • 7+ years of relevant electrical engineering design with a preferred focus on building power, lighting, and systems projects for commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities.
  • Experience selecting equipment and troubleshooting systems.
  • Knowledge of the electrical construction trade, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency in MS Office - specifically Excel, OneNote, Outlook and Word.
  • Relevant experience using Bluebeam and industry specific software such as SKM, Aspen, and/or EasyPower.
  • Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary engineering functions for projects, including electrical power service and distribution, branch circuits, indoor and outdoor lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, telephone and data infrastructure wiring, audio/visual systems, and miscellaneous electrical and control systems to develop construction documents (drawings and specifications).
  • Advise clients regarding electrical systems and requirements available to meet their needs and comply with applicable codes.
  • Perform lead functions in electrical project design, including directing tasks to Drafter/Designers and Apprentice Level Engineers to meet the requirements set forth by the Principal Engineer.
  • Perform field inspections to verify existing site conditions and develop project requirements.
  • Effectively coordinate with internal and external members of the design team.
  • Solve problems of a complex nature, with minimal oversight from a more experienced Engineer, in both the design and construction phases of a project.
  • Provide guidance to the construction team to ensure implementation of full design.
  • Perform project management activities as it relates to the electrical discipline, including reviewing and updating the budget, preparing and updating a project schedule, and establishing project communications, standards, and files as necessary.
