About The Position

PROENERGY seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer for its Kansas City metro area office. The role supports the company’s integrated engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, document controls, and operations teams in delivering power-industry projects. The engineer will execute project work, influence and maintain engineering standards and procedures, help set discipline-specific goals, provide industry expertise, and contribute to process improvement. The position may serve as a subject matter expert and Engineer of Record for projects, working collaboratively with the EPC team and clients to deliver high-quality construction-ready engineering.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
Eight years of related work experience in fossil fuels, power, or generation.
At least two years of engineering project management or lead-level discipline engineer experience in an EPC environment.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to employees, management, and clients.
Ability to multitask and manage numerous projects and tasks simultaneously, often on aggressive and compressed schedules.
Proficient in interpreting and providing direction on project controls and scheduling.
Ability to independently apply knowledge, ensure quality-program compliance, establish related processes, guide others, and support continuous improvement and change management.
Good negotiation, presentation, and persuasion skills, including communicating ideas, winning approval, and reaching resolutions with varied audiences.
Experience creating grounding, area classification, power, single-line, and motor control drawings, with a clear understanding of protective devices and coordination techniques.
Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, API, NEC, and other industry codes, specifications, and standards.
Ability to perform engineering calculations such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, harmonics, equipment sizing, large motor starting, grounding, transient stability, electromagnetic transients, and insulation coordination.
Familiarity with and ability to specify high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical equipment, including MCCs, transformers, and switchgear.
Adaptability, collaboration, systems-thinking, and comfort with change and ambiguity.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, warning signs, equipment-use directions, and other policies.
Ability to work during normal operating hours and to work overtime and weekends as required.
Fluency in English, including strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
U.S. work authorization; candidates requiring sponsorship for a work-authorized visa will not be considered.
Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

Provide technical direction and organizational leadership to engineers and designers executing electrical power scope of work.
Manage project scope, budget, and schedule, including change management.
Own the electrical technical design for assigned projects and potentially serve as Engineer of Record.
Perform or review routine and complex engineering, design, analysis, and other technical tasks using current technology, standards, calculation software, templates, and cataloged products.
Prepare or review load lists, power system studies, single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, area classifications, sizing calculations, schematics, equipment specifications, data sheets, requisitions, and technical bid analyses.
Collaborate with the integrated EPC team and clients on RFIs, deliverable reviews, change order requests, and engineering equipment buyout.
Develop the engineering project team vision, identify priorities, and align work with operational goals.
Foster high-performing teams and project execution behaviors.
Mentor and develop team members and provide technical guidance on projects and disciplines.
Improve customer satisfaction, work-product quality, and operating efficiencies.
Develop, review, and implement guidelines and procedures to standardize and template PowerFLX engineering work.
Identify Key Performance Indicators and establish means to track and report them.
Keep up to date with technology and industry practices and identify practical applications.
Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes.
Actively manage project changes with clients under Project Manager supervision.
Perform work safely and effectively, follow instructions and policies, and complete work within deadlines; work overtime and weekends as required.
