About The Position

Raytheon is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer to join their Space & Airborne Power & Digital Department. This role will focus on analog mechanism control designs, specifically supporting the design of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and Units that provide power and control for mechanisms and other external devices. A key emphasis will be placed on design for manufacturing, assembly, test, and cost. The position offers opportunities to enhance electrical engineering skills through hands-on work with digital and analog hardware, testing, and debugging complex circuit card assemblies or electro-mechanical systems. Collaboration with Functional and Program management, as well as customers and suppliers, is expected. Assignments may involve travel and participation in various phases of the hardware systems lifecycle, including design, analysis, architecting new electronic systems, developing requirements and test plans, conducting peer reviews, presenting to stakeholders, and performing root-cause failure investigations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics related field or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience OR An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Eight years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support.
  • Experience in Analog/Digital sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development, requirement validation, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Design, Test Integration and/or Supplier Management.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior hands-on troubleshooting experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in digital design tools for CCA Schematic Capture, Interconnect Capture and Harness Design.
  • Prior experience as a technical leader on a complex subsystem during Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) Phase.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering degrees.
  • Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background.
  • Highly self-motivated individual that can perform multidiscipline work.
  • Background in designing and troubleshooting of motors, EO/IR Sensors, servo drive circuit cards, digital circuit cards, and configurable logic.
  • Experience in project leadership, systems engineering and architecture.
  • Desire to grow to a higher level.
  • Able to network and/or influence outside of the Department with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines and Manufacturing organizations.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
  • Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
  • Experience working with satellite or similar systems.
  • Ability to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Knowledge of mixed signal electronics.
  • Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support digital and/or mechanism control designs for avionics systems.
  • Enhance electrical engineering skills by working with digital and/or analog hardware testing and debugging complex circuit card assemblies or electro-mechanical systems.
