About The Position

To create standard products with reference to customer specifications for designing Powell standard products. This role involves designing standard jobs with guidance, reading and interpreting customer job specifications, ordering materials, creating drawings, and transmitting drawings to the shop and customer. The engineer will interface with sales, customers (with supervisor), and the shop. Completed tasks will be checked by more senior engineers. The role also includes directing designers in completing wiring diagrams.

Requirements

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or related area.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an Engineering role.
Ability to check wiring diagrams completed by others.
Ability to interact on a regular basis with shop personnel.
Able to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve simple application problems independently with minimum supervision.
Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel.
Advanced drafting/CAD skills.
Proficient with electrical design and circuitry.
Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters.
Basic understanding of power system and relay applications as applied to products.

Responsibilities

Create standard products based on customer specifications.

Analyze and answer technical questions from designers.
Order material electronically.

Apply NEC, ANSI, and Other codes as applicable.
Apply industry standards as applicable to job and product.
Design products economically while achieving quality.
Attend in-house and outside training sessions.
Attend local professional associations.
Learn policies and procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
