About The Position

The Optics Electronics Department is an electrical engineering organization that designs, sustains, and integrates advanced electrical subsystems for airborne, naval, and land‑based military applications. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience supporting circuit card assemblies through production, redesign, and obsolescence management. This role plays a key part in resolving factory and supplier hardware issues, driving redesigns and updates, and serving as a technical interface to customers and program teams. Work includes design updates for circuit card assemblies, troubleshooting and lab‑based problem solving, supplier coordination, and leading technical efforts to mature and deliver complex electrical hardware within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience designing, troubleshooting, and validating circuit card assemblies in development and production environments.
  • Experience managing technical scope with Earned Value Management and prior leadership as an IPTL or similar role.
  • Experience with schematic capture, block diagrams, and parts lists for complex electronic systems.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to lead redesigns and resolve obsolescence‑driven hardware issues, working across factory, suppliers, and program teams.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Jira to track schedules, tasks, and technical progress.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics XPedition or similar schematic‑capture tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with fault isolation and root‑cause/corrective‑action activities on complex electrical hardware.
  • Experience designing electronic products with stringent size, weight, and power constraints.
  • Proficiency working in a lab environment using industry‑standard test equipment and tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, signal generators, and vector network analyzers.
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead resolution of circuit card assembly and flex‑circuit card assembly production issues in partnership with factory teams and suppliers.
  • Lead circuit card assembly redesigns and design updates, including addressing obsolescence and completing validation and test activities.
  • Conduct hands‑on troubleshooting, testing, and lab‑based problem solving on circuit card assemblies as an individual contributor.
  • Perform circuit card assembly design tasks, including updates, redesigns, and documentation for complex electronic hardware.
  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering interface for the customer and program teams, communicating risks, status, and technical decisions.
