This role is for a Senior Electrical Engineer in Kincardine, Ontario, with extensive experience in the Ontario nuclear industry. The engineer will provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality design packages that meet Worley’s standards for safety, compliance, and technical excellence. Responsibilities include managing the Electrical engineering and design team, overseeing their design output for quality, cost, and schedule, and solving complex engineering problems. The position offers the opportunity to be part of the transformation of Ontario’s Nuclear fleet, working on critical clean energy programs.

Requirements

  • Extensive design management experience for the nuclear power industry and related construction/industrial projects.
  • Relevant experience in design management, development and planning.
  • Experience in overseeing design/engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Oversight Guidelines.
  • Leadership role supporting multiple small to mid-sized projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in nuclear processes and standards.
  • Designing all aspects of electrical power distribution systems for nuclear plants, including grounding and lightning protection.
  • Experience in working with nuclear safety-related systems.
  • Fire Alarm system design, heat tracing design and cathodic protection systems.
  • Experience in the design of Security projects for Nuclear Power plants, including Physical Barrier Systems and controls related to these systems. This requires experience in both hardware and software requirements.
  • Strong knowledge on the development of MV and LV systems.
  • Strong knowledge on the development of Protection & Control.
  • Strong knowledge on the development of Single line diagrams, schematics, interconnection and wiring diagram.
  • Strong knowledge on the development of Layouts – lighting and grounding, cable routing design.
  • Strong knowledge on the development of Substation and MCC design.
  • Strong knowledge on the development of Electrical calculations.
  • Strong knowledge on the development of Power System Studies.
  • HVAC, Ventilation, and Fire Alarm/control system Experience.
  • Preparation of Specifications and Contract Documentation.
  • Prepare electrical design and calculations in accordance with the relevant Canadian Codes / Standards and client preferences.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, regulations, and practices.
  • Team player, with excellent organizational, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Design software.
  • Basic knowledge of SmartPlant Electrical software.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Senior-level experience in direct Electrical engineering in the Nuclear Industry.
  • P. Eng (Ontario) designation preferred or to be able to register.
  • Valid Security Clearance for the Canadian Nuclear Industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Instrumentation would be an asset/preferable.
  • Familiar with digital tools, digitization and data acquisition experience are an asset.
  • HV knowledge an asset/preferable.
  • Working knowledge of Power System software e.g., ETAP will be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Lead Engineer and supervise the work of other engineers, designers, drafting and GID (Global Integrated Delivery) team.
  • Perform designing/engineering work/deliverables as part of the Electrical team.
  • Ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Coordinate/Communicate with other disciplines and the client.
  • Support the Scope definition, estimation, and progress control of Electrical engineering activities.
  • Support/ensure resource allocation based on project schedule requirements.
  • Lead RFP, Estimations, Detailed Engineering, and field support project activities.
  • Familiarity with client standards and ability to interpret client specifications.
  • Support quality assurance and verification role on engineering deliverables.
  • Quality Assurance – Responsible for working, and getting team members working with you, within the provisions and guidelines of the Worley Quality Assurance system.
  • Assist and support junior/intermediate/senior personnel within the Electrical engineering team.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in Electrical engineering.
  • Resolves discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
  • Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow required checking procedures.
  • May be required to provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
  • Provide construction management support for clients as required.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, engineers, and other disciplines.
