About The Position
FourFront Design, Inc. has an opening for a senior level, licensed Electrical Engineer. Responsible for the design of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic buildings, from project initiation through completion. The senior electrical engineer also serves as a mentor and technical expert to less experienced engineers and can complete complex electrical design solutions. Applies expert knowledge of municipal codes and engineering standards and evaluates designs to assure they meet project specifications and client expectations. Gives guidance to project team when Lead Electrical Engineer is unavailable. Understands contractual aspects of the client/designer relationship and assures obligations are met. Must be willing to affix professional engineering seal to plans and specifications created under own creation or directly supervised assistant. Completes final checks for accuracy of plans and specifications submitted to client. Through the construction phase of a project, monitors activities to ensure that construction conforms to functional specifications and customer requirements. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Requirements
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 10 years previous electrical design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifying experience.
- Willingness to apply for additional state or professional license when required.
- Knowledge of LEED principles; encouraged to become LEED accredited.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD required; Visual-3D helpful.
- Must be able to work in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- Preferred RCDD certification but not required.
- Preferred government and Veteran Affairs (VA) experience but not required.
Responsibilities
- Functions as an electrical engineer; responsible for the electrical design of commercial, medical, professional offices and other buildings.
- Complete electrical design systems including building related electrical power distribution, lighting, and cabling systems.
- Lead the assessment of client’s needs related to the project; Assure work meets the design and production aspects of the project.
- Maintain up-to-date material and equipment/gear knowledge for selection, scheduling, design, analysis, and able to perform evaluation of existing lighting, gear and controls systems.
- Apply project management knowledge and function as a project manager when required.
- Promote and provide expertise in sustainable design practices as required by the project.
- Review design, construction budgets, and schedules; complete work accordingly.
- Determine electrical design and project scope, budget, and staffing requirements.
- Apply advanced knowledge of applicable codes and ordnances. Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.
- Interpret the intent of electrical contract drawings and specifications for the Client, General Contractor, Building Inspector, and other interested parties.
- Review work provided by subconsultants and others to assure it meets project specifications.
- Complete company-required drug test; completion of a background check and fingerprinting by may be required by client.
