About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to support its Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. This role involves performing various electrical design functions, including developing facility models and construction drawings for electrical systems. Responsibilities include creating plans, one-line diagrams, control diagrams, interconnection diagrams, elevations, details, schedules, and bills of materials. The designer will also create drawings for instrumentation and controls systems, such as system architecture, ladder diagrams, input/output diagrams, and instrument data sheets. A significant part of the role includes the complete design of lighting systems for buildings and outdoor areas, involving fixture selection and model calculations for normal and emergency lighting. Assistance with cost estimating and equipment summary for bills of materials may also be required. This position offers remote work flexibility, with a preference for full-time work in Oak Ridge, TN. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in engineering from an accredited certified institution.
  • 15 or more years of electrical engineering design experience.
  • Construction support experience for Title 3 activities.
  • Experience in providing construction support or services during construction is required.
  • Citizen of United States.
  • Short Circuit Analysis experience.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC.
  • Ability to independently produce construction documentation using 2-D and 3-D applications (Smartplant or Revit) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • DOE experience desired.
  • NQA-1 experience desired.
  • Lighting calculation experience.
  • Familiarity with 3 Dimensional applications with use of software such as Smartplant or Revit.
  • Knowledge of broad range of electrical systems is required, including power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, lighting design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design and equipment selection.
