About The Position

Bose Corporation is seeking a Senior DSP Engineer to develop, port, optimize, integrate, and validate audio signal-processing software for embedded platforms. The engineer will independently own substantial DSP components or workstreams, taking algorithms from reference models through production deployment. The role involves translating MATLAB/Simulink models and research implementations into robust, reusable C/C++ components for audio products, with an emphasis on audio quality, testability, and maintainability. The position is based onsite in Framingham, Massachusetts, and works closely with algorithm, systems, firmware, hardware, and QA teams. The engineer will work with Bose proprietary audio technologies and collaborate with ML and ANC/ANR engineers as needed. Bose describes itself as a privately owned, customer-focused company with more than 60 years of innovation in audio. It is working across global business units and functions on audio technology, automotive, luxury, and premium experiences. Compensation is tailored to skills, experience, education, and location. The hiring range for the primary work location in Framingham, Massachusetts is $138,100–$189,850. Other work locations may have different ranges. The company also offers bonus programs, comprehensive health and welfare benefits, a 401(k) plan, wellbeing perks, and an employee discount.

  • 8+ years of relevant DSP or embedded software development experience, including substantial hands-on DSP implementation work.
  • Strong DSP fundamentals and practical experience implementing signal-processing algorithms for embedded or real-time systems.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills and MATLAB/Simulink experience for algorithm analysis, modeling, and validation.
  • Experience implementing fixed-point and floating-point algorithms and evaluating numerical accuracy and hardware trade-offs.
  • Hands-on development experience with at least one relevant DSP or embedded processor architecture, such as Cadence HiFi, ARM, or Qualcomm Hexagon.
  • Ability to independently take DSP components through implementation, optimization, integration, and validation.
  • Strong debugging and profiling skills, including experience diagnosing performance, memory, and real-time processing issues.
  • Experience with automated testing, version control, code reviews, and clear engineering documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience with audio DSP, including equalization, dynamics processing, filtering, sample-rate conversion, spatial audio, or voice processing.
  • Processor-specific optimization using SIMD/vector intrinsics or assembly, including Cadence HiFi, ARM Neon/Helium, Qualcomm Hexagon, or x64 SIMD.
  • Experience developing reusable DSP libraries and integrating low-latency audio processing into RTOS or embedded Linux systems.
  • Experience with Embedded Coder or similar code-generation tools, Python-based validation, or continuous integration.
  • Experience deploying ML algorithms or partnering with ANC/ANR controls engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, port, and validate DSP algorithms for embedded audio applications, translating reference models into production-quality C/C++.
  • Own DSP components from implementation planning through integration, verification, and release, and communicate progress, risks, and technical tradeoffs.
  • Develop modular, reusable processing blocks and integrate them into configurable audio chains and embedded frameworks.
  • Apply fixed-point and floating-point techniques, select appropriate numerical representations, and validate behavior against reference models.
  • Profile and optimize compute, memory, latency, and real-time performance on DSP and embedded targets such as Cadence HiFi, ARM, and Qualcomm Hexagon.
  • Build unit tests, reference test vectors, and automated regression tests; document numerical accuracy, audio behavior, and target performance.
  • Debug algorithm and system integration issues on reference and product hardware using lab equipment, debuggers, and profiling tools.
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers on interfaces, build environments, and integration dependencies, adapting implementations as requirements evolve.
  • Contribute to design and code reviews, maintain clear technical documentation, and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
