About The Position

The Center of Molecular Oncology and Cellular Therapeutics (MOCT) at Children’s Mercy Research Institute (CMRI) is seeking to recruit a senior investigator to enhance existing strengths and broaden the CMRI’s capacity to fulfill its mission of improving the health and wellness of children and their families. This is an endowed chair position for pediatric immunotherapy or pediatric hematological malignancies. The role aims to expand laboratory-based research programs and collaborate with faculty in the Division of Clinical Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (CHOT) to develop new diagnostic and treatment options for pediatric and young adult hematology and oncology patients. The successful candidate will have expertise in basic and translational cancer research, a strong track record of academic achievement with sustained extramural funding, and the ability to build a nationally recognized pediatric research program. The individual will hold a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD credential and will be supported by an endowment. Collaboration with faculty across Children's Mercy and national/international partner institutions is expected. Children's Mercy serves as the Department of Pediatrics for the University of Kansas Medical Center and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Schools of Medicine, and faculty hold appointments at one or both. CMRI is a core member of the National Cancer Institute-designated University of Kansas Cancer Center and Frontiers: The Heartland Institute for Clinical and Translational Research.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Expand laboratory-based research programs in pediatric immunotherapy or pediatric hematological malignancies.
  • Collaborate with faculty members in the Division of Clinical Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (CHOT).
  • Develop new diagnostic and treatment options for pediatric and young adult hematology and oncology patients.
  • Build a nationally recognized pediatric research program in the field of immunology, hematology, oncology, and/or other specialties.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty across Children's Mercy and national/international partner institutions.
