About The Position

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine (PACCSM) in the Department of Medicine is seeking an MD/DO candidate for a faculty position to serve as the Endowed Chair and Director of the Burghardt Food Allergy Center. PACCSM offers expert diagnosis and care for patients with lung diseases, allergy, asthma, and immunologic disorders, as well as critically ill patients. The Allergy Program within PACCSM provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnostic, and management services for adults and children. The division is also committed to outstanding research, including basic science and clinical trials, and education across various levels, including fellowship programs. The position involves clinical duties, administrative, educational, and academic responsibilities, and research. The Director will oversee expenditures from an endowment dedicated to food allergy research and teaching, and is expected to have a strong history of NIH funding or similar. Laboratory space and start-up funds may be provided, along with a competitive salary. Resources for recruiting additional faculty may be available. The Section is supported by a strong Department of Medicine and a research-focused Dean. The practice plan offers significant infrastructure support. The Section trains residents and offers an Allergy/Immunology fellowship, and provides clinical coverage at OHSU Hospital and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Teaching responsibilities include fellows, residents, and medical students. Clinical responsibilities encompass treating common and complex allergic and immunologic disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings at OHSU in Portland, Oregon, with potential for satellite clinic work. Opportunities exist to lead multi-disciplinary clinics and expand clinical trials.

Requirements

  • MD or other qualifying doctorate degree
  • ABIM and/or ABP certification or eligibility for certification
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship in Allergy/Immunology
  • Expertise in allergic and immunologic diseases for a diverse patient population
  • Current or substantial history of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding, industry-sponsored studies, or funded investigator-initiated trials related to basic or translational research in food allergy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient clinical duties in the Allergy and Immunology Section.
  • Serve as the Endowed Chair and Director of the Burghardt Food Allergy Center.
  • Present at and participate in division grand rounds and other conferences.
  • Teach residents and medical students.
  • Conduct independent clinical, translational, or basic science research.
  • Oversee expenditures from an endowment for food allergy research and teaching.
  • Lead and coordinate the development of multi-disciplinary clinics.
  • Expand clinical trials.
