POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Director Technology Operations serves as a strategic force multiplier for the Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO), combining product operations leadership, technology effectiveness and oversight. This role drives roadmap discipline, engineering KPIs, and operational cadence across the Product & Technology organization while acting as the CPTO’s delegate to ensure commitments are tracked, escalated, and delivered. The ideal candidate blends deep product and technology fluency with the organizational savviness to drive execution through influence across senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; strong writing and composition abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective and professional relationships across the organization and with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Product Operations & Roadmap Effectiveness
  • Own and continuously improve the product and technology operating rhythm—including intake, discovery, prioritization, roadmap governance, release readiness, and post-launch measurement.
  • Establish and enforce standards for roadmap quality, ensuring every initiative has clear objectives, outcomes, success criteria, dependencies, and risks documented.
  • Design and run the cadence for roadmap reviews, quarterly planning, and cross-team prioritization sessions, ensuring alignment between product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain executive-level roadmap dashboards and status reporting, translating complex delivery status into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Drive consistency in product management practices across teams—standardizing templates, artifacts, definition-of-done criteria, and delivery workflows.
  • Technology Effectiveness, KPIs & Engineering Health
  • Define, publish, and track KPIs for engineering and technology effectiveness—including velocity, cycle time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, mean time to recovery, and code quality metrics.
  • Build a comprehensive view of technical debt across the portfolio; partner with engineering leaders to quantify impact, prioritize remediation, and integrate tech debt reduction into roadmap planning.
  • Develop and drive the strategic plan for automation testing adoption—establishing coverage targets, tooling standards, and a phased rollout that improves release confidence and reduces manual QA burden.
  • Champion the integration of AI into the software development lifecycle—including AI-assisted code generation, automated code review, intelligent test creation, and developer productivity tools.
  • Monitor and report on build/release pipeline health, identifying bottlenecks and driving continuous improvement in deployment speed and reliability.
  • Product and Technology - Execution & Accountability
  • Act as the operational delegate, ensuring commitments made are tracked, followed up on, and delivered.
  • Own the operational cadence on strategic initiatives across the P&T organization.
  • Serve as an honest broker and neutral escalation point across teams, identifying cross-functional blockers, resolving conflicts, and driving alignment.
  • Prepare briefing materials, decision frameworks, and executive summaries in advance of leadership meetings, executive reviews, and cross-functional leadership forums.
  • Manage special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Build trust with leaders by operating with transparency, consistency, and a service-oriented mindset—ensuring they view this role as an enabler rather than a monitor.
  • Strategic Planning & Organizational Alignment
  • Partner with the senior leaders to translate company-level strategy into P&T organizational goals, ensuring every team understands how their work connects to business outcomes.
  • Drive the annual and quarterly planning process for the P&T organization, coordinating across product, engineering, architecture, and infrastructure teams.
  • Establish and manage the P&T investment framework—balancing new feature development, platform improvements, tech debt reduction, and innovation initiatives.
  • Track and communicate organizational health metrics including team capacity, hiring progress, attrition trends, and resource allocation effectiveness.
  • Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies across the P&T organization—streamlining workflows, reducing meeting overhead, and improving decision-making speed.
  • Drive adoption of consistent tooling and processes for project management, documentation, and knowledge sharing across all P&T teams.
  • Establish and run retrospectives and continuous improvement programs at the organizational level, ensuring learnings from delivery challenges are captured and acted upon.
  • Build playbooks for recurring operational activities—including incident response coordination, release management, vendor evaluations, and cross-team dependency management.
  • Cross-Functional Communication & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the connective tissue between P&T and the rest of the organization—ensuring business leaders, sales, operations, and customer support have clear visibility into product and technology direction.
  • Lead regular stakeholder forums to communicate roadmap updates, delivery milestones, risks, dependencies, and trade-off decisions with clarity and accountability.
  • Coordinate with Finance on P&T budgeting, forecasting, and spend tracking—ensuring technology investments are transparent and aligned to business priorities.
  • Partner with HR/People Ops on organizational design, talent planning, and culture initiatives specific to the P&T organization.
  • AI & Innovation Strategy Support
  • Support the CPTO in evaluating and prioritizing AI and emerging technology opportunities, conducting landscape assessments and building business cases for investment.
  • Track the organization’s AI adoption maturity—measuring usage, impact, and ROI of AI tools deployed across product development and engineering workflows.
  • Coordinate proof-of-concept and pilot programs for new technologies, establishing clear success criteria, evaluation timelines, and go/no-go decision frameworks.
  • Stay current on industry trends in product operations, engineering effectiveness, and AI-driven development practices to continuously evolve the P&T operating model.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately convey information to others.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.
