About The Position

The Senior Director, Strategy & Business Operations is a strategic advisor and operational leader within Global Policy and Government Affairs (GPGA). Reporting to the SVP, Head of Global Policy and Government Affairs , this role drives the execution of key organizational priorities, ensures operational excellence, and enables effective decision-making across the GPGA function. The Senior Director works in close partnership with the Executive Director, Chief of Staff, GPGA to provide dedicated support to the SVP and broader GPGA leadership, align resources, communications, and strategic initiatives to advance the department's mission and enterprise objectives. This role serves as a trusted partner to senior GPGA leadership, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and ensuring the smooth functioning of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, Public Policy, or related field; advanced degree (JD, MBA, CPA, MPA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in legal, compliance, strategy, finance, policy, or operations roles, with at least 2-5 years supporting executive leadership in a complex, global organization.
  • Demonstrated success in project management, executive communications, financial management, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Understanding of government affairs, policy, and regulatory environments, particularly within the pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industries.
  • Exceptional business judgment, analytical acumen, and ability to operate with a high degree of discretion and executive presence.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Executive Support Partner closely with the Executive Director, Chief of Staff, GPGA to support the SVP, Head of Global Policy and Government Affairs on strategic, operational, and organizational matters.
  • Assist in driving the execution of the SVP's priorities, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and GPGA objectives.
  • Lead preparation for executive meetings, leadership team forums, and key stakeholder engagements in support of the SVP and Chief of Staff.
  • Support the GPGA Leadership Team in advancing organizational evolution and transformation initiatives.
  • Provide support and coordination on sensitive or high-priority matters under the purview of the SVP, Head of Global Policy and Government Affairs.
  • Operational Excellence & Culture Set and implement the culture and ways of working for GPGA; create a strategy to set a culture of excellence and kindness; plan regional and other cross-department meetings and activities.
  • Assist in overseeing the operating rhythm for the GPGA Leadership Team, including agenda setting, decision tracking, and follow-up on key action items.
  • Coordinate cross-functional and enterprise initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of critical projects and alignment across GPGA sub-teams.
  • Monitor progress on strategic initiatives, KPIs, and OKRs, providing regular updates to GPGA leadership.
  • Support GPGA in meeting budget requirements and achieving financial targets in partnership with relevant finance and operations stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communications Partner with the Chief of Staff and communications teams to ensure timely delivery of key messages, presentations, and reports for internal and external audiences on behalf of the SVP.
  • Support the organization and execution of GPGA organizational meetings and leadership forums.
  • Facilitate collaboration and information flow between the SVP's office, the GPGA Leadership Team, and other enterprise functions.
  • Represent the SVP or Chief of Staff in meetings and forums as directed.
  • Change Management & Continuous Improvement Support change management initiatives within GPGA to drive organizational effectiveness and cultural alignment.
  • Partner with the People Organization and the Chief of Staff to support the GPGA Career Ladder and continuous improvement curriculum.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability across the GPGA organization.
