About The Position

The Senior Director, Quality Business Process Excellence is responsible for enabling Innovative Medicine Quality processes and deliverables. This role leads specific end-to-end programs and owns specific end-to-end business processes. It is a strategic role focused on creating and maintaining process decomposition and continuous improvement of key Quality processes. The role also consolidates the investment picture for the Quality Systems function. The leader will shape supply chain resiliency in close collaboration with R&D, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Enterprise functions. This role oversees a group of business excellence professionals who work on end-to-end programs and support Innovative Medicine Quality with strategic problem statements, leading improvements in end-to-end processes in partnership with key business functions. The enablement of Quality processes requires close partnership with the members of the Quality Systems & Innovative Medicine Quality Leadership teams. This includes documenting processes, making them available through training, driving consistency, and continuous improvement in line with business needs and scope. The role also involves investment management for Quality Systems in collaboration with the IMQ Strategy & Operations function, providing status updates, and managing end-to-end performance through monthly scorecard reviews and developing a fully connected performance management structure. Resiliency ownership includes foundational work on risk assessments, creating transparency on supply chain resiliency status, and serving as the single point of contact for SC resiliency challenges within the IM Quality function. It also includes creating/consolidating content for the yearly Board of Directors review on risk. Talent development within the team is crucial, ensuring positions are filled with best-in-class talent capable of driving progression and ensuring talent can flow to impactful positions. Excellent connections with other excellence groups in IMQ, Enterprise, and partner functions are essential, as is collaboration with R&D and Commercial to ensure IMQ processes are well-aligned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A minimum 10-12 years relevant business experience is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years in Supply Chain (Operational), Quality or R&D is required.
  • Proven overall PE knowledge in Six Sigma, Lean or DEX is required.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity in a complex environment.
  • Ability to build effective partnering relationships.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the area supported, knows how value is created in the business, understanding the key levers for driving breakthrough improvement.
  • Understanding of overall business environment, including financial acumen.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of internal and external customer needs and insights to inform decision making and strengthen overall value to the customer.
  • Track record of influencing the external environment based on knowledge of social, political, regulatory and economic issues affecting businesses domestically and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Owns specific end to end business processes for Innovative Medicine Quality.
  • Shape supply chain resiliency in close collaboration with R&D, Commercial, Supply Chain and Enterprise functions.
  • Oversee a group of e2e business excellence people who work primarily on e2e programs and support Innovative Medicine Quality with strategic problem statements, leading improvements in E2E processes in partnership with key business functions.
  • Enablement of the Quality processes and be a close business partner to the members of the Quality Systems & Innovative Medicine Quality Leadership teams.
  • Manage the process model and decomposition, ensures the documentation of processes, makes these available thru training, drives consistency and continuous improvement in line with the business needs and scope.
  • Manage Investment for Quality Systems in close collaboration with the IMQ Strategy & Operations function, including providing status updates and managing finance.
  • Manage End to End performance management as well as tiered performance management, including monthly scorecard reviews with IMQ LT and ownership over the process development of a fully connected performance management structure.
  • Manage Resiliency ownership, including foundational work on risk assessments, creation of transparency on the status of resiliency in the supply chain (product and portfolio), and serving as the single point of contact for any SC resiliency challenges in the IM Quality function.
  • Create/consolidate the content of the yearly BoD review on risk.
  • Drive Talent development in the team, ensuring positions are filled with best-in-class talent who are able to drive progression in how we work and ensure talent can flow to next impactful positions.
  • Foster excellent connections with the other excellence groups in IMQ, Enterprise and partner functions.
  • Collaborate in specific areas with R&D and Commercial to ensure IMQ processes are well aligned.
