About The Position

We are seeking a Sr. Director, Product Management — Health Plans to lead product strategy, business discovery, and requirements development for complex health plan and benefits-product initiatives. This role will serve as a senior partner to clients, business leaders, and cross-functional product teams, translating healthcare, regulatory, and client needs into clear business outcomes and actionable requirements. The Sr. Director will lead the Health Plans Product function, establish effective operating practices, and ensure that initiatives are well defined, appropriately prioritized, and aligned with broader business and member-experience goals. The Sr. Director will remain engaged throughout the product lifecycle, providing business context, maintaining alignment with approved outcomes, and supporting launch readiness and post-launch evaluation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, healthcare solutions, business requirements, benefits administration, or a related field.
  • Significant experience leading product, product strategy, discovery, or requirements teams in healthcare, benefits, or another regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated success working with complex healthcare organizations, benefits stakeholders, or regulated-industry clients.
  • Experience leading senior client relationships and complex cross-functional decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of health plan or benefits-related capabilities, which may include benefit design, eligibility, enrollment, claims or benefit administration, member communications, reporting, data exchange, and operations.
  • Experience translating regulatory, contractual, operational, and client needs into clear business outcomes and requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of product discovery, requirements governance, traceability, scope management, prioritization, and change control.
  • Demonstrated ability to separate business needs and outcomes from product and technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with executive, client, product, technology, operational, legal, and compliance audiences.
  • Experience building or improving product strategy, intake, discovery, or business-requirements practices.
  • Strong people-leadership skills, including the ability to develop talent, establish accountability, and lead through influence.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Health Plans Product function, including its strategy, operating model, priorities, and ways of working.
  • Identify patterns across complex client, market, and regulatory needs and partner with product leadership to inform effective, sustainable solutions.
  • Serve as a senior product-strategy partner for health plan, regulatory, and benefits-product opportunities.
  • Evaluate and prioritize opportunities based on business value, client needs, regulatory considerations, feasibility, and organizational priorities.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to team members responsible for discovery and business requirements.
  • Communicate recommendations, tradeoffs, risks, and dependencies to product and executive leadership.
  • Lead discovery for complex health plan and benefits-product initiatives.
  • Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to define business problems, desired outcomes, scope, priorities, constraints, and measures of success.
  • Translate regulatory, contractual, operational, and client needs into clear, validated, and testable business requirements.
  • Define business rules and business-level acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure requirements are complete, aligned, and traceable before transitioning to product and technology teams.
  • Distinguish business needs and desired outcomes from product, technical, and operational solutions.
  • Establish effective practices for intake, discovery, prioritization, requirements management, stakeholder approval, traceability, and change control.
  • Build trusted relationships with health plan executives, benefits leaders, operations leaders, legal and compliance partners, and internal business sponsors.
  • Lead executive-level discovery and decision-making for high-priority or complex initiatives.
  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholders with differing goals, constraints, and responsibilities.
  • Resolve or escalate material issues related to scope, ownership, prioritization, and commitments.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to identify the appropriate product, technology, operational, legal, and compliance stakeholders for each initiative.
  • Partner with product and technology teams to ensure approved business requirements are translated into well-defined product solutions and successfully delivered.
  • Provide business context and clarification throughout product definition, technical discovery, development, testing, and launch.
  • Maintain oversight of business outcomes after requirements transition to downstream teams while preserving clear ownership across functions.
  • Ensure material product and technical decisions remain aligned with approved business goals and requirements.
  • Govern changes to business requirements and assess their impact on scope, timing, client commitments, and intended outcomes.
  • Surface cross-product dependencies, risks, and portfolio conflicts to the appropriate leaders.
  • Support executive launch-readiness reviews from a business and client-outcomes perspective.
  • Partner with product, operations, client services, and other stakeholders to define appropriate measures of success.
  • Monitor post-launch performance and determine whether findings require a requirements change, product enhancement, operational remediation, or further leadership review.
  • Maintain traceability between the original business need, approved requirements, delivered solution, and post-launch outcomes.
  • Use market, client, operational, and performance insights to inform future product decisions.
