About The Position

The Sr. Director, Program Management Office is a senior leadership role within Dexcom's Global Operations & Quality organization. Reporting directly to the EVP of Global Operations & Quality, the Sr. Director, PMO is accountable for establishing, leading, and continuously maturing a centralized, enterprise-grade PMO function that drives strategic program execution across the full Global Operations & Quality portfolio. This leader will have direct management responsibility for leadership across the Technical Program Management and Program Management within Global Operations & Quality, creating a unified center of excellence that enables cross-functional alignment, delivery predictability, and operational rigor at scale. The Sr. Director PMO will serve as a strategic partner to the EVP and Global Operations & Quality leadership team, translating organizational priorities into executable roadmaps that accelerate Dexcom's mission of delivering continuous glucose monitoring solutions to people living with diabetes worldwide. Dexcom's Global Operations & Quality organization is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of manufacturing, supply chain, quality systems, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across a global footprint. As Dexcom continues to scale its product portfolio, manufacturing capacity, and international reach, the need for a centralized, high-performing PMO function is critical to ensure disciplined portfolio governance, drive cross-functional alignment, deliver complex programs on time and on budget, and build a world-class program management capability.

Requirements

• Proven track record of building and leading enterprise-scale PMO functions in a regulated industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology strongly preferred).
• Deep expertise in FDA-regulated product development and manufacturing environments, including Design Controls (21 CFR Part 820), CAPA systems, and quality management systems (ISO 13485, ISO 14971).
• Demonstrated experience leading program management organizations of 20+ professionals, including senior director-level direct reports.
• Proven ability to manage multi-hundred-million-dollar program portfolios spanning capital projects, product launches, supply chain transformation, and manufacturing scale-up.
• Experience operating in a high-growth, publicly traded company with global manufacturing and commercial operations.
• Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of industry experience.
• 9+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing, centralized PMO organization comprising Directors and Senior Directors of Technical Program Management and Program Management across all Global Operations & Quality functions.
• Establish the vision, strategy, and operating model for the Global Operations & Quality PMO, defining standards for program governance, delivery methodology, and performance management.
• Develop career pathways, succession plans, and talent development programs to attract, retain, and grow exceptional program management talent.
• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence across the PMO organization.
• Serve as an executive champion for the program management discipline throughout the enterprise.
• Partner with the EVP and Global Operations & Quality leadership team to define, prioritize, and manage the organization’s program portfolio in alignment with Dexcom's strategic plan and annual operating plan.
• Establish and maintain a robust portfolio governance framework, including stage-gate processes, investment review cycles, and executive reporting cadences.
• Provide authoritative visibility into portfolio health, resource capacity, program risks, and strategic dependencies to enable informed executive decision-making.
• Lead quarterly and annual program portfolio reviews, presenting findings and recommendations to the EVP and cross-functional senior leadership teams.
• Drive effective prioritization and trade-off decisions when resource constraints or strategic shifts require reallocation across the portfolio.
• Oversee delivery of the organization’s program portfolio, ensuring programs are executed with rigor, predictability, and compliance with Dexcom's quality management system (QMS) and regulatory requirements.
• Define and deploy standardized program management methodologies, tools, and templates (including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid frameworks) appropriate for FDA-regulated medical device development and manufacturing environments.
• Drive proactive risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue escalation across all programs within the organization.
• Partner with Finance to establish program budgeting, forecasting, and cost management standards across the PMO, ensuring financial accountability and variance reporting.
• Lead post-program retrospectives and lessons-learned processes, translating insights into systemic improvements to the PMO operating model.
• Serve as the primary interface with enterprise PMO functions, R&D program management, Commercial, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless program integration across the product lifecycle.
• Build trusted advisory relationships with senior leaders across Global Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, and Finance.
• Lead executive communications and presentations related to organization’s program portfolio status, risks, and strategic milestones.
• Influence without authority across a matrixed, global organization to drive program alignment and accountability.
• Represent Global Operations & Quality organization in cross-enterprise governance bodies, steering committees, and executive leadership forums.
• Define and drive the PMO technology strategy, including program management platforms (e.g., Smartsheet, Planview, Microsoft Project), data analytics, and executive dashboards.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics frameworks that provide real-time visibility into portfolio performance, resource utilization, and delivery health.
• Champion a data-driven culture within the PMO, leveraging analytics to drive predictive insights and proactive portfolio management.
• Continuously benchmark PMO capabilities against industry-leading practices in medical device, pharmaceutical, and high-growth technology sectors.
