About The Position

We are seeking a strategic, systems-oriented Senior Director, Platform Programs & Portfolio to define, build, and evolve the execution strategy and operating model for the Platform Services & Emerging Technologies (PSET) organization. This role reports to the VP, Platform Next and is accountable for how complex platform initiatives move from strategy to delivery to customer impact. You will partner with Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, and Data leaders so the operating model and practice you build support the business in reaching its goals: platform capabilities and customer outcomes delivered at scale, on a platform that's easy to use. To get there, you will build and scale the delivery systems and processes that enable teams to operate predictably and move quickly. This role is remote-friendly within the United States and Canada. For those who prefer in-office or hybrid work, the role can be based in one of Autodesk’s major North American hubs, including San Francisco, CA; Portland, OR; Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Toronto, ON; or Montreal, QC. Travel requirements are approximately 10–15%.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering program leadership, enterprise portfolio or program leadership, technology operations, consulting/PMO, or another role requiring ownership of complex technology portfolios and cross-organizational execution
  • 7+ years leading cross-functional teams or program organizations, or equivalent leadership experience
  • Proven experience leading large-scale, complex technology programs — multi-team execution, cross-organizational dependencies, delivery risk management
  • Proven experience owning portfolio execution strategy and governance — prioritization frameworks, sequencing, trade-off decisions, and resource allocation across a multi-team technology portfolio
  • Fluency in software development lifecycle practices, engineering workflows, and AI-accelerated development environments, including AI-assisted workflows, and rapid, experiment-driven iteration cycles
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to reason about technical systems, dependencies, delivery risks, and to use data and metrics to inform decisions and improve execution outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, drive alignment, and enable effective decision-making
  • Proven experience building and leading program and portfolio organizations at scale including org design, talent development, leadership bench-building
  • Demonstrated ability to build a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and learning
  • Demonstrated ability to make and hold difficult trade-off decisions under pressure, defending the call to VP/EVP stakeholders when it's the right one, and achieving resolution on cross-team conflicts rather than defaulting to consensus-seeking

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to reason about complex platform architectures, technical dependencies, and operational risk, and to partner with engineering and architecture leaders to identify risks, tradeoffs, and delivery strategies
  • Experience operating in complex, enterprise-scale platform environments where technology capabilities enable multiple products, teams, or businesses
  • Experience across different operating environments or organizational cultures, with the ability to adapt practices rather than apply a single fixed operating model

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve a modern, scalable delivery operating model across PSET, including planning frameworks, governance, and collaboration rituals
  • Transform the portfolio and TPM practice itself to be AI-native, building the tooling and decision-support systems that let it scale, and continuously developing new solutions as the organization's needs evolve
  • Evolve and lead a high-performing TPM and Portfolio organization, strengthening technical program and portfolio leadership across prioritization, cross-functional execution, PDLC practices, and stakeholder alignment
  • Provide executive-ready visibility into program health, progress, capacity, risks, milestones, and cross-team dependencies, enabling faster and better decision-making
  • Drive portfolio governance across the platform stack: prioritization, sequencing, trade-off decisions, capacity visibility, and the systems that enable stakeholders to continuously assess investment, risk, and expected value
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex, high-impact platform initiatives: from problem framing and planning through delivery and measurable outcomes
  • Serve as the senior escalation authority for complex, cross-organizational program issues, driving resolution and alignment with VP and EVP stakeholders as needed
  • Partner closely with engineering and architecture leaders to ensure program planning reflects system dependencies, architectural considerations, and operational realities
  • Support the evolution of Platform Next’s delivery model for AI-native engineering, enabling faster experimentation, AI-assisted development workflows, and data-driven feedback loops
