Senior Director, Payer & Government Partnerships

L-Nutra
$190,000 - $220,000Remote

About The Position

L-Nutra is a pioneering nutri-technology company with a strong foundation in clinical research and intellectual property. Our Medical Nutrition Therapies have demonstrated disease-modifying effects in conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. We have collaborated with leading medical institutions to develop precision nutrition formulations that promote disease remission and regression. Our solutions have shown significant improvements in diabetes remission rates compared to drugs alone and have increased remission rates in autoimmune conditions. Health-economic assessments indicate that our solutions are cost-saving for payers, creating alignment among payers, patients, and practitioners. Several payers and governments, including Cigna and the UAE, have already begun reimbursing L-Nutra's products and programs. We are seeking a senior partnerships leader to work with our C-suite to identify and secure new payer and government partnerships, with an expanding channel through health systems and employers. Our medically tailored meals business already has a reimbursement code and coverage across CMS and multiple plans, providing a strong foundation for growth. This role is crucial for transitioning evidence-generating pilots to reimbursed, renewable programs. The position involves sourcing grant-funded pilots with payers and governments, designing these pilots in collaboration with Medical and HEOR teams, building the economic case, determining the reimbursement model, and managing the relationship through contracting. Post-contracting, the role involves handing off program execution to Commercial Ops and Medical for delivery, enrollment, billing, and outcome tracking. This is a strategic, cross-functional leadership role focused on building and scaling the payer and government partnership function, with opportunities for team leadership and growth as the commercial organization matures.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in payer/government business development, market access, or value-based partnerships.
  • Proven track record of converting evidence-generating pilots or demonstration projects into reimbursed, renewable programs with payers and/or governments.
  • Fluency in reimbursement models: program vs. product vs. hybrid, case-rate/PMPM and product codes, SSBCI/supplemental benefits, and value-based contracting.
  • Experience partnering with clinical/Medical and HEOR/health-economics teams to design pilots and build economic cases.
  • Comfort quarterbacking long (12-24+ month), multi-stakeholder, cross-functional pursuits.
  • Experience building and leading teams as a channel scales.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in digital health, food-as-medicine, medical foods, or nutrition.
  • Grant-funded pilot experience.
  • Business development experience across multiple client types (payer, government, employer, health system).
  • Existing professional relationships with relevant decision-makers.

Responsibilities

  • Source grant-funded pilots with payers and governments, and demonstration projects with employers and health systems.
  • Partner with Medical and HEOR to develop grant applications and design pilots that generate key outcomes for payers (e.g., A1c, blood pressure, lipids, weight, cost savings, engagement).
  • Ensure pilots progress to validated, payer-ready evidence, maintaining commercial relationship and momentum while Medical manages delivery.
  • Collaborate with HEOR and Medical to determine and secure approval for reimbursement models (program vs. product vs. hybrid, case-rate/PMPM vs. product codes), based on economic case.
  • Manage payer/government relationships through contracting, including pricing, terms, covered populations/services, and claims/credentialing setup.
  • Facilitate handoff of signed programs to Commercial Ops and Medical for operational execution (eligibility, enrollment, billing, delivery, outcome tracking), while retaining commercial ownership for renewals and expansion.
  • Collaborate on joint pursuits across L-Nutra's businesses, including the medically tailored meals business, and co-bid on payer RFPs where appropriate.
  • Lead cross-functional pursuit teams (Medical, HEOR, Commercial Ops) throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Build and lead a dedicated team as the payer and government channel scales.
  • Provide market feedback to the company on pricing, packaging, evidence gaps, and go-to-market strategies to refine offerings for payers.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $190,000 – $220,000 base annually + meaningful equity + a performance incentive.
  • Equity: a real pre-IPO equity stake.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • 401(k) with up to 4% company match.
  • Flexible, trust-based PTO (FTO).
  • A path to grow with the channel you build.
